James Dibble's nephews will present their video chronicling the journey of discovery, see parts of the plane and learn more about this homegrown military hero from his mystery-solving family.
A Hastings, MI resident, James was a WWII P-38 fighter pilot who died serving his country. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1939 He married his high school sweetheart. He trained to work in bakeries, but.... he became a fighter pilot in 1942. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was shot down in Italy in 1943 on his 49th mission.
