A noontime commemoration ceremony coordinated by American Legion Post #140 will follow the bell ringing. It will begin with recognition of emergency-service personnel who have remained strong throughout the entire ordeal on the attack of America and who have upheld the honor of patriotism.
There will be a number of different events during the ceremony, including the placement of a ceremonial wreath by the Barry County Sherriff’s Department to commemorate past war fighters who are now deceased, as well as “striking the four fives” of the Ball Bell by Thornapple Township Emergency Services and an honorary flyover by Hastings Fly Association, all conducted by our Master of Ceremonies and keynote speaker, the Honorable Judge Michael Schipper, of the Barry County District Court. “We Will Remember” memorial event of The American Legion’s National September 11th “Patriot Day” Commemoration.
Participants will include representation from area clergy, veterans, government, fire and police departments.Date and Time
