DESCRIPTION:Join us for the ATHENA Fall Luncheon on October 6\, 2023! \n\nGuest Speaker\, and 2012 ATHENA Recipient\, Rebecca Fleury will discuss the ATHENA tenet\, "Foster Collaboration":  Value the gifts each individual brings\, with a perspective that is global and a spirit that is inclusive\; deepen understanding\, awareness\, and knowledge through diversity\; encourage participation from those that are often overlooked.  Leaders welcome others to the work of leadership.\n\nABOUT OUR SPEAKER:\n\nRebecca Fleury was an ATHENA Award Winner in 2012 while serving as Village Manager and Finance Director for the Village of Middleville.  She has served in local government for 24 years\, serving communities in Kalamazoo\, Hastings\, Middleville\, and now Battle Creek.  Rebecca has served as the City Manager for Battle Creek since October 2014.  \n\n\n\nShe earned her BA in Education and MPA from Western Michigan University.  She has served twice as the community's first female Chief Administrative Officer.  In 2021\, she served as the State Association President for the Michigan Municipal Executives.  She is also part of the original workgroup for the Michigan Municipal League's 16/50 Women's Leadership program and continues to serve as a coach and mentor. \n\n\n\nShe is married to her husband Matt\, a retired police officer.  They are avid campers\, bikers\, and hikers and are enjoying being first-time grandparents to two-year-old Julian.\n\nThe ATHENA Leadership program is proudly brought to Barry County by the Barry County Chamber & Economic Development Alliance and is supported through sponsorships from the following organizations:\n\n\n	\n	Hastings Mutual Insurance Agency\n	\n	\n	Highpoint Community Bank\n	\n	\n	Edward Jones\, Andrew R.
