DESCRIPTION:Michigan's oak trees are under attack from a fungal pathogen known as oak wilt. With about 10% of forests in Michigan comprised of oak\, this disease has the potential to impact almost 150 million red oak trees across the state of Michigan\, especially during the summer when they are at their greatest risk.\n\n\n\nJoin Karandeep Chahal\, Graduate Student in the Department of Plant\, Soil and Microbial Science at Michigan State University\, as he discusses what is oak wilt\, how to identify it\, effective management strategies\, and his latest research surrounding this devastating disease.\n\n\n\nThis program will be presented virtually and synchronously (in-person). After lunch\, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about oak wilt in an optional hands-on\, field trip experience. Please register by Monday\, June 27\, to reserve a lunch.
