During Sheryl?s tenure, the organization has received numerous accolades, including the Governor?s Quality Awards, The Joint Commission?s Top Performer in Key Quality Measures, and the Recommended Rating for Surgical Services from Consumer Reports. In addition, the hospital has repeatedly been named one of the 101 Best and Brightest Places to Work in West Michigan.

Sheryl has more than 35 years of executive health care experience; she previously served as executive vice president and chief operating officer, Goshen Health System, and as department director, vice president, support services and vice president, clinical resources in the Holy Cross Health System.

Sheryl served on the Michigan Health and Hospital Association (MHA) Board of Directors and the Executive Committee for five years. She is a community activist and currently serves on the

She speaks locally, regionally and throughout the state on topics relating to rural health care, including healthcare reform, building a quality organization, physician relations and legislative advocacy.

Rebecca DeHaan, Director of Human Resources, Thornapple Manor
Barry County is where Rebecca calls home, with her husband Dave and three amazing kids. She was born and raised in Freeport on the family farm with four older brothers.  Following in the shadows of four brothers was not always glamorous.  Growing up in a community where she watched my dad give his word to a fellow patron; she learned quickly that integrity, ethics and hard work was the key to success.

She was taught if you want something you have to work for it.  Throughout high school, she thought she wanted to follow in her oldest brother?s footstep and be an engineer.  Rebecca soon realized that sitting behind a desk drawing designs was not really her passion.  She was given an opportunity to work at Spectrum Health Butterworth in Human Resources and loved it!  She switched her major and continued to pursue a career in Human Resources at Spring Arbor University.  Twenty-years later, she still loves her job.  Rebecca has the pleasure of working at Thornapple Manor as the Director of Human Resources providing staff support and making a difference in the life of the elders.

Matt Thom, Talent Acquisitions Specialist, Hastings Mutual Insurance Company
Matt Thom is currently the Talent Acquisition Specialist for Hastings Mutual Insurance Company. In his role he is responsible for sourcing and attracting talent to the organization across all of its divisions, including Claim, Underwriting, Information Technology, Marketing, at Hastings Mutual?s corporate offices and its field staff located across seven different states. Aside from managing the recruiting function for Hastings, Matt is also responsible for ensuring a top-notch candidate experience from application to hire, building the Hastings Mutual employer brand and developing efficient, consistent internal processes to minimize the time it takes to fill open roles. Just as importantly he is committed to proving that Toby from NBC?s ?The Office? does not represent the Human Resources field as a whole.

Matt holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management from Central Michigan University, and because he just couldn?t get enough of the classroom and homework, is completing his Master?s Degree in Human Resources and Labor Relations from Michigan State University. Prior to working for Hastings Mutual, Matt held  Human Resource roles with consumer floorcare brand BISSELL and home improvement retailer Menards.

Lyndsey Fischer, Assistant Principal, TK Middle School
Lyndsey Fischer is enjoying her second year as the Assistant Principal at Thornapple Kellogg Middle School.  Prior to that, she taught health and physical education for twelve. A Western Michigan alum and TK graduate, Lyndsey has always been a part of the Middleville community and loves that she has the opportunity to raise her family there as well.

Lyndsey was honored as the 2013 Barry County ATHENA Young Professional, recognizing her as a role model for young women both personally and professionally. She is involved in numerous organizations throughout the community, including being a part of the Thornapple Township strategic planning workgroup in 2018 and being instrumental in the implementation of the Teen Leadership program at TK High School. An avid runner, she has completed at least a 5K a day for the last 150 days and counting!
