Developed by Dogwood Community Development, the $7.8 million development received a low income housing tax credit allocation from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) for construction, along with funding support from the Barry Community Foundation and DeCamp Foundation, to rehabilitate the former Kellogg school building into beautiful new apartments. The Kellogg school was a prominent institution and one of the central pillars of community life since it was built in 1936 and the school was decommissioned approximately 70 years later. After the school was decommissioned, the building that sat vacant for 20 years is now receiving a new life and purpose.
