Barry County, MI – The Barry County Chamber and Economic Development Alliance (BCCEDA) proudly announces the launch of the Level Up Capital Campaign, a bold initiative to ensure the county's long-term prosperity and sustainability. With a vision to position Barry County as a model of rural innovation and economic vitality, this campaign focuses on expanding capabilities, enhancing infrastructure, and fostering community development.

A Blueprint for Growth and Innovation

The Level Up Campaign outlines a transformative strategy designed to empower Barry County to thrive in an ever-evolving economic landscape. The campaign’s key objectives include: 

• Team Expansion: Recruitment of specialized staff in workforce and community development, legislative advocacy, tourism, and administrative support to meet the county's growing demands. 

• New Headquarters: Establishing a modern office space to support operational efficiency and a professional environment. 

• Business Resource Center: Repurposing the current office into a multi-functional hub, including a Business Development Center and Coworking Studio, to promote entrepreneurship and innovation. 

• Technology Upgrades: Renewing critical technology contracts and investing in advanced tools to support large-scale, impactful projects. 

Driving Sustainable Growth 

With a strong foundation built on agriculture, manufacturing, and a burgeoning bioeconomy sector, Barry County is poised to lead in clean energy, sustainable materials, and farmland preservation. The campaign emphasizes smart growth that honors the county’s rural character while embracing forward-thinking solutions like renewable energy, biodiesel production, and innovative technology.

Over the past four years, BCCEDA has secured nearly $2 million in grants, spearheading initiatives in housing, childcare, broadband access, workforce development, and community revitalization. With new housing projects, a major retailer, and groundbreaking programs like the Bioeconomy Certification, Barry County has already made significant strides.

"Now is the time to capitalize on our momentum," said Heinzman. "Our efforts have not gone unnoticed — counties across Michigan are looking to Barry County as a leader. With the Level Up campaign, we will ensure that this progress not only continues but accelerates."
