Hastings Introduces New EVA Blankets Offering Additional Protection and Versatility

October 27, 2026
CommunityPress ReleaseEconomic Development

HASTINGS, Mich.—Hastings Fiber Glass Products has introduced new Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate (EVA) Blankets for use by lineworkers and utility professionals. Available in solid and split versions, the blankets weigh approximately 4 pounds less than standard Class 4 rubber blankets and provide more consistent flexibility in extreme heat and cold conditions.

The EVA Blankets have been tested using the same procedures and equipment as conventional rubber blankets and adhere to electrical and physical test requirements of ASTM D1048 Class 4, including being certified safe for live-line AC systems up to 36 kV and 100% factory-tested to withstand 40 kV AC.

Weighing 6 pounds each, the blankets measure 36 by 36 inches, feature reinforced eyes to resist tearing, and are more puncture-resistant than rubber versions.

The solid version, catalog number CVU-BLK-3636-EVA, is ideal for tarp-like draping use over flat surfaces, including switchgear and large busbars.

The split version, catalog number CVU-SBK-3636-EVA, features a built-in slit that allows it to better wrap around intersecting lines and poles and eliminate dangerous gaps.

“Improving upon the design and protection provided by traditional rubber blankets, Hastings’ new EVA Blankets offer users additional protection and ease of use,” said Brian Baum, CEO of Hastings. “Offering reliable and trustworthy products is a continual process at Hastings. The solid and split versions of these blankets are another example of our commitment to always looking for new ways to assist and protect our end users in a variety of use cases and conditions.”

Based in Hastings, Michigan, Hastings Fiber Glass Products is a family-owned business that manufactures and supplies hot line tools and equipment to lineworkers worldwide. The company’s extensive selection of hot sticks, attachments, and other safety devices is designed with safety in mind.
